Consultation on Amendment to our Admissions Arrangements for the 2023/24 Admission Year Onwards
Dear All,
RE: AMETHYST ACADEMIES TRUST – CONSULTATION ON AMENDMENT TO OUR ADMISSIONS ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE 2023/24 ADMISSION YEAR ONWARDS.
In line with DFE guidance, we are currently consulting on changes to our admissions policy. The consultation will run until 14th January 2022.
The attached policy will replace the existing admissions arrangements for all schools within the Amethyst Academies Trust at the time of consultation.
Proposed Changes to the Trust’s Admissions Policy
This consultation follows the procedure set by the Admissions Code 2021 (‘The Code’) and gives the local community the opportunity to provide their views on these proposed admission arrangements.
This consultation relates to the amendment of the trust’s oversubscription criteria to include;
Criteria D – Children of staff at the school
The Admissions code states that Admission authorities may give priority in their oversubscription criteria to children of staff in either or both of the following circumstances: a) where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made; and/or b) the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post at the school for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
The Trust intends to include this oversubscription criteria into its existing criteria. Please note this is the only amendment being proposed by the Amethyst Academies Trust to its admission arrangements.
We are keen to hear views from the local community who are likely to be affected by the proposed changes and are consulting interested parties in accordance with the Admissions Code.
For schools, if appropriate and by whatever means you feel most suitable, please make the parents/carers of children in your school aware that this consultation is taking place.
The statutory consultation period will run from Friday 19th November 2021 to Friday 14th January 2022.
Please send any responses to consultation@aatrust.co.uk or via letter to the Trusts registered address; Aldersley High School, Barnhurst Lane, Wolverhampton, WV8 1RT, headed “consultation response” on the envelope/letter.
