We were incredibly proud to attend the Wolverhampton Secondary Sports Awards at Grand Station – an inspiring evening that brought schools from across the city together to celebrate dedication, perseverance and achievement in sport.

It was a proud night for Amethyst Academies Trust, with students from both Aldersley and Moreton recognised for their contributions. Moreton’s Year 7/8 boys’ volleyball team took home a well-earned win after a strong season of commitment and teamwork, and Aldersley were victorious in Unified Football – a powerful reminder of the role sport plays in bringing people together. Our PSG Academy (West Midlands) team also celebrated success, finishing top of the Post-16 Division 2 football league, a testament to the consistent effort and drive shown throughout the year.

Across a range of individual awards, our students were honoured through nominations that reflected their character and contribution to school sport. Tyler and Amber from Aldersley were nominated as PE Champions alongside Eli from Moreton, recognised by their peers for leadership and passion. For the Helen Bourton Award, Riley and Ronni (Aldersley), and Shaun and Sophie (Moreton) were nominated – each demonstrating outstanding commitment. The Nick Shaffery Award saw nominations for Rajan (Moreton) and Isobelle and Lucy (Aldersley), highlighting students who go above and beyond both in sport and within the wider school community.

Miss Williams, Head of PE at Aldersley, said:
“It was wonderful to see our students recognised not only for what they’ve achieved, but for who they are – committed, inclusive and supportive of one another. Sport continues to be such a powerful tool for personal growth and teamwork across our school.”

Mr Winstanley, Head of PE at Moreton, added:
“We’re proud of every student who represented our schools on the night. Whether they took home a trophy or not, they’ve shown what it means to lead with integrity and to support others. That’s what real success looks like.”

While we didn’t take home all the trophies, the nominations alone speak volumes about the values our students embody. Their determination, sportsmanship and positive influence make us immensely proud, and we look forward to building on this success in the year ahead.
