On Thursday 8th March, Moreton School hosted the first ever Amethyst Post 16 Careers Event. Over 250 year 11 students from both Aldersley High School and Moreton School were invited to attend to find out about the subject and extra-curricular offerings at the Amethyst Sixth Form, courses available at local colleges, Higher Education degrees at several Universities from across the country and Apprenticeship opportunities and future career information. The aim of the event was to give all year 11 students impartial advice and guidance in order for them to make considered and well planned choices on their exciting journeys ahead.

Throughout the event the atmosphere was electric, with all students highly engaged and excited about the information they were receiving. The sports hall had been transformed with a red carpet VIP entrance, confetti balloons and inspirational displays. Over 50 Amethyst Sixth Form student ambassadors and teachers of sixth form subjects created spectacular displays for their subject areas with highlights including an energetic live dance performance, outstanding art work that would be welcome in any art gallery and infectious smiles all round. Local colleges, Universities and employers including WOW hair and beauty offered some thorough information and guidance on courses and pathways as well as giving out those all-important freebies! Ladies (and gents!) were positively buzzing over the WOW gift bags.

As well as the fantastic guidance given, the Amethyst Careers team treated students to their very own photo booth, a tasty and delicious buffet, a colorful and delectable sweetie table, a sixth form wish tree and an Amethyst Sixth Form goody bag!

As always, the confident students were keen to share their thoughts about the event.
