Amethyst Academies Trust Announces Retirement of CEO
Amethyst Academies Trust has announced that Chief Executive Officer Nicola Licata will retire from her role, opening a search for an exceptional new leader to build on the Trust’s strong foundations and shape its next chapter. The Trust is inviting applications from ambitious, values-driven individuals committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for children, young people and communities.
Nicola’s career in education spans 40 years. She began as a teacher at a primary school in Derby, working alongside colleagues to embed the new National Curriculum, before moving into secondary education at a school that had just been placed into special measures. It was there, she says, that she learned what real school improvement looks like amid the realities of inner-city challenge and deprivation.
Nicola went on to become Headteacher of Aldersley High School, a role she describes as the greatest privilege of her career, before founding and leading Amethyst Academies Trust in 2014. Under her leadership, the Trust has grown into a family of schools known for its culture of ambition, inclusion and collaboration.
The Trust’s board of trustees will now begin the process of recruiting Nicola’s successor, and says it does so with great confidence in the strength of the foundations she leaves behind.
“After 40 years in education, I have taken the decision to retire from my position as CEO of Amethyst Academies Trust,” said Nicola Licata. “It has been an immense privilege to serve children, families, staff and communities throughout my career. I am incredibly proud of Amethyst Academies Trust and the communities we serve, and of the culture of ambition, inclusion and collaboration we have built together. As we begin the recruitment process for a new CEO, I do so with great confidence in the future of the Trust and gratitude for everyone who has been part of the journey.”
